Documented deaths by tracker

The bars show the principal death series currently presented by each tracker. They do not represent directly comparable estimates of every death in each war.

Documented deaths by year

Each annual bar combines the reporting series currently followed by this site. Gaza figures show Palestinian deaths added to reports during the year. Ukraine figures show verified civilian deaths attributed to that year.

The combined height is not an estimate of all global war deaths. It includes only the documented series currently tracked by Death by War.

Why this site exists

Clarity before certainty

Casualty figures during war are incomplete, revised over time and often disputed. This site does not present reported figures as independently verified final counts.

Every tracker explains what is being counted, who reported the figures and when the data was last updated.
